Many of you will be aware of the tragic case of Sean Drummond, a past pupil of CBC Monkstown, who suffered a traumatic brain injury resulting from an accident in London in March last year. Sean is now slowly recovering in a London hospital but will require long term rehabilitation support.

To support the tremendous ongoing initiatives to fund Sean’s long term care the CBC Monkstown PPU has decided to hold a table quiz with details as follows:
Date: Friday, March 6th
Venue: CBC Monkstown Park
Teams: Maximum of 5 per team/table
Fee: €100 per table
Everybody is welcome. Prizes for the winning team and (hopefully) some spot prizes. There will be a raffle with lots of prizes on the night. Please spread the word, tell everyone, bring your friends, family, fellow past pupils, whoever you can reach.

Also, feel free to enter a team even if you cannot make it on the night, all proceeds will go to the fund anyway. Please let us know if you are not coming to the quiz, as there is only so many tables we can fit in the CBC hall!!!

It is with sadness that we announce the recent death of John Lyons, a past pupil of CBC Monkstown Park. John was the 121st President of the I.R.F.U. and was a previous recipient of the PPU's Outstanding Achievement Award. On behalf of the PPU we would like to extend our condolences to John's family.
The PPU‘s annual golf classic took place once again in Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on Friday August 23rd. There was a ‘shotgun’ start at 14:00 which meant everyone finished together and had a great opportunity to socialise before the dinner. We had 44 golfers enjoying the beautiful sunny weather and another then six past pupils joined us for the dinner.
There was a bit of fun on the night with a raffle, a charity auction and the prize giving. Many thanks to our sponsors for their support which helped us ensure the prizes were good and for the super items that were ultimately auctioned. Also many thanks to the various individuals who contributed the prizes that made the raffle a bit of fun.
The individual winner was Donal Courtney with an excellent score of 39. The team prize was won with a score of 85 points by a Class of ’78 team comprised of Adrian Barnes, Gareth Colgan, Barry Steele and Russell Burke. The PPU president, Dermot Kelly, presented the prizes to all the winners.

This will be followed by dinner and prize-giving in the Clubhouse at 20:00.
The cost for golf and dinner will be €75 per person (or €45 for Dun Laoghaire Golf Club members) including a free sleeve of golf balls for current PPU members. A Mass for deceased past pupils has been arranged for St. Patrick’s Church, Monkstown at 11:30AM on Sunday, November 10th 2019.
The 40th reunion of the class of 1979 shall take place on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 8:00PM onwards in McKenna’s pub in Wellington Street, Dun Laoire. All 1979 graduates welcome.
