CBC Monkstown Park Past Pupils Union Membership Drive and Fundraiser
**Your Subscription + 10% to Two Great Causes**
Hi to all past pupils of CBC Monkstown Park, we hope you are doing OK during the current challenging circumstances arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Like most other organisations, and indeed all of us as individuals, we in the PPU cannot do the things we would normally be doing.  Hopefully as 2021 unfolds that will begin to change for the better but in the meantime we have to make the most of what we have.

The PPU, would normally be supporting reunions, providing ties for the SCT and squad, organising five-a-side soccer for the sixth years, planning its annual golf outing and preparing to welcome the Class of 21 as honorary members on their graduation day.  However, these can not be undertaken at the present time.  So the PPU has decided to use this time to expand its membership and raise money for some good causes at the same time.

The PPU traditionally makes a contribution from any surplus funds around Christmas time every year.  At the end of last year it donated €500 to the local St. Vincent de Paul as well as €500 to Movember 2020 for which the CBC sixth years campaign raised over €11,000.
Given that the PPU is not likely to need its usual level of funding as normal activities cannot take place for the moment, the committee has agreed to pass on any new subscriptions it receives in 2021 to two very worthy causes:
  1. Pieta House – whose vision is a” world where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance” and whose mission is to “support people and communities in crisis by providing freely accessible, professional services to all.”
 
  1. Support4Drummo – Sean Drummond, a former pupil of CBC, was knocked down in a terrible accident in London in 2019. Sean suffered a traumatic brain injury with multiple skull and facial fractures.  For several months Sean lay in bed in a coma, fighting infections, and in May 2019, he underwent extremely complex surgery to insert artificial plates in his skull. It was the first time that surgeons have replaced this much skull in a patient. In July 2019, Sean was physically stable enough to be transferred to the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability in Putney, where he is participating in a programme of intensive rehabilitation. The rehabilitation journey that Sean is embarking on is long and hard and one that presents significant emotional and economic challenges  for his family.  Plans for Sean to be brought back to Ireland to continue with his rehabilitation have been thwarted for the moment by the Covid-19 pandemic.

So, if you are a former pupil of CBC Monkstown Park and not already a member of the PPU why not join up and help two great causes? To make this an even more attractive proposition, in addition to passing on all new subscriptions received in 2021 equally to these two great causes, the PPU Executive Committee has agreed to top up all funds received by a further 10% from its own funds.
